MoSCoS

MoSCoS (Modelling and Simulation of Complex Systems) is a multidisciplinary research team aiming to develop new methodologies for predictive models of systems with many degrees of freedom and strong interactions.

MoSCoS gather researchers from Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and Engineering to investigate complex systems: Particulate materials, climate systems and geological materials. To study such systems we use innovative analytical models and high performance computing.

Some of current research projects include:

• Coupling Virtual Reality with High Precision Physical Simulation

• Discrete Element Simulations of Geological hazards, such as earthquakes and landslides

• New developments in particle-based methodologies

• Multiscale approach for geological materials

• Numerical models for economic systems

• Simulations of pedestrian flow, traffic flow, and industrial granular flow

• Coupling of particles with fluids

• New developments in enriched continua models

• Computational modelling of rock fragmentation
